Commissioner Adam Silver launches investigation into Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen

The investigation found Olshey had inappropriately shared material about President Donald Trump with journalist Mark Jaeckel during a conference call with other NBA executives in July 2017.

According to a CNN report , NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced an investigation into Olshey and the rest of the Blazers staff following Jaeckel’s story in The Hollywood Reporter , which outlined an alleged conflict of interest for Olshey that involved securing the services of Jaeckel to write a book about the President.

“During the call, Olshey appeared to be discussing the scope of a book proposal he was expecting to submit for potential publication, and, in some instances, mentioned specifics about the nature of the proposed book,” Silver said in a statement. “The investigation also found that during the same call, Olshey discussed personal matters relating to himself and his family, and in one instance cited his private discussions with Mr. Jaeckel as offering insight into Mr. Trump’s views.”

In one of the conversations, which CNN viewed, Olshey asks Jaeckel whether he should not be running for the state’s Senate seat because “Donald Trump and his guys like me.” The exchange was captured by Jaeckel on his smartphone.

Olshey has denied any wrongdoing.

CNN first reported in September that Olshey’s wife, Natalie, was working for the Federal Communications Commission in President Trump’s administration.
